White Oak, 2013

Bonsai Bench displays and draws inspiration from American Bonsai trees. Replacing the formal Japanese tokonoma with a display of tree and person as a composition. I did not sand any part of this, every surface has been finished by a high angle frog #3 Lie-Nielsen hand plane.

Well…. I wasn’t going to vote because it wanted me to register….

This piece is utterly beautiful. As are all of the other projects you shared with us.

I like to give credit where it is due, and it is certainly due here. A fellow comes and asks for the tiniest gesture of support, and considering the level of creativity and talent evidenced by each of your projects, it is definitely deserved.

Upon reconsideration, I’m going back to register and vote. I’ll be returning to vote again.

A worthy effort.

Byron,

First let me say that the cascade style cedar is a fine bonsai but I am more of a fan of the informal upright maple. I used to be obsessed with Bonsai.

Your bench is friggin awesome. Did you use a domino for the joinery?

Edit: voted

Thanks everyone! Lysdexic, I did not use a domino I used a multi-router. I do not feel a domino is accurate enough. Thank you everyone who voted!
