Walnut Clad Pump Dispensers

Project by ChuckM posted 498 days ago 331 views 2 times favorited 9 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Using the project info. from the WOOD magazine: Walnut Pump Dispenser ( Oct 1991 Issue 46 P.74), I made a couple of lotion / soap dispensers out of 1/4” Walnut. I’m going to make a few more using scrap oak pieces.

By the way, the most critical tool used for this project was the digital angle finder I bought from Lee Valley, allowing me to cut accurate 22.5 degree bevel rips. The third pic shows how tight the joints could be with accurate bevel ripping cuts (that was a prototype made of oak).

Happy Canada Day!

Your joints look very tight. Nice work. Did you resaw the walnut to 1/4”? Thoes look really nice. Thanks for posting.

That does it. I am going to have to purchase one of those little angle gauges.

Great work. I love the idea and the design. Keep up the good work.

The Walnut piece was 1/4” when bought. I resaw the oak piece on my tablesaw and sanded it (as I don’t have a thickness planer (yet).

Since the dispensers will be in the vicinity of moisture / water, a few coats of wipe-on poly were applied.

Thanks for the comments.

Terrific idea, I think you are going to be making lots of these for gifts.
