All that work and only one poorly lit photo of it. Surely you can afford some more digital “film”. LOL

Would also like to see the whole building front to see the door in reference to the rest of the doorway

At first I thought “where are the magnets?”
Then I realized it said rare earth, with nothing mentioned about magnets.

Great door. These are rewarding projects.

Beautiful work. A little mention of the types of wood would be great.

Isn’t this entire website dedicated to advertising? When anyone puts up a project aren’t they advertising their work? Our guys worked hard on this and I’m proud of the work they did and like to show it off. I do not see why this would offend you. Isn’t the whole point of this to show off your work and help people get ideas? It’s not like this is some machine made, mass produced item. Of course we’re advertising on here and the whole point of it is that we can give fellow woodworkers a source for wood the might not normally be able to find.

beautiful door indeed. Is this veneered or full thickness hardwood?

As for advertising – I thinks this whole website is dedicated to sharing woodworking experience and inspiration as it seems more marketed to woodworkers than to end-customers. that said, yes people like to show off their work -and you should be proud of this door and whomever made it – it is gorgeous. that said you don’t see anyone else add the following to their posts:

”If you’re looking for exotic, rare woods for your project, please give us a call …or visit us at…”

This is the difference between showing off your work, and using this to advertise your business which you don’t see others doing.

just saying…

Peace!

Lacking other photos , the door seems out of place (very nice , but too upscale for its surroundings) and that bright hardware has to go. Probably not your choice , but it is very distracting along with the “red” door jambs and threshold.
Perhaps if the casing were a little more elegant , it would also enhance the door opening , adding to your workers’ masterpiece : ) JMHO.

”If you’re looking for exotic, rare woods for your project, please give us a call …or visit us at…”
Really comes on as just advertising . You’ve told us absolutely nothing about the door , yet you’re trying to get us to buy from you. If people are interested in what types of wood you used for the door , I’m sure they would have the presence of mind to contact you via LJ mail system if they wanted some. You haven’t even told us whether it is solid wood or veneers in your greedy posting. How about creating a blog on the building of this door ?

It’s a full thickness hardwood.

You have a solid point purplev and I can see where the posts I’ve made differ in that way. But, we do have wood that is difficult to get ahold of and I want to let fellow wood enthusiasts know there’s a place to find these things. There’s a lot of unfinished projects out there that aren’t done because people can’t find a matching piece of rare wood. If, by letting people know that we have these things, we can help people get some of these projects finished, I feel like we’re doing a good deed.

I almost feel like I would be doing a disservice to this community if I didn’t let people know that they can buy these rare pieces of wood for there projects. The bulk of our income comes from hardwood floors but, on this site, I’m only posting unique custom jobs.
