This is my Coffee Table project for one of my Wood Tech classes. It is made out of quarter sawn red oak with a walnut burl veneer. Supposedly people see Donnie Darko in my walnut burl, the seem matched up really good and over all I like the medullary ray fleck. The drawer is made out of Maple and has the same finish as the top. The drawer has wood drawer slides, each leg has 4 sides mitered with the shaper. The apron has a stop dado which is attached to the legs. It has a pre-cadilized lacquer finish and no stain.

Nice looking table and an awesome choice of Veneer. I can certainly see some face or body in it, caught my eye on the project page thumbnail.

You did a great job. You must have some awesome Teachers!! Good balance of colors in the wood and nice use of the burl.

-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and now time to work!!!

Donnie Darko? Think you mean Frank the Bunny, Donnie’s apparent nemesis.

As for me, it looks like Gizmo (from Gremlins) riding piggyback on Rolf the dog (Muppet Show).

Very nice! I hadn’t seen legs done that way before. What does the shaper bit look like? I’m assuming that’s four pieces of wood for each leg glued up?

Gorgeous coffee table! Great design and wood choice. I can see 2 faces on it. Like the legs and the drawer. Impressive work!

I especially like the way you matched the wood grain at the corners. Nice detail.

Have your say...
