While I was working on my Sculptured Rocking Chair project I did a lot of research on Sam Maloof. I saw some pictures from the trim in his house, where he used dovetails as a decorative accent. I liked it so much that I did something similar in our living room. The edges of the pin are rounded a little to make it stand out more. Although it was a little more work, we really enjoy the look.
The trim is ash and all the joints are hand cut. It is finished with a light stain and a polyurethane water based finish.

That’s a nice touch – the extra time put in was worth it.

That is a novel way to trim a window. It certainly adds a distinctive touch to your trim.
Well done.
