I have just finished the my L75s turntable with the plinth made from layered Birch ply encasing the workings of the table surrounded by Australian River Red Gum.
The corners are blind dovetails done by hand, this was a very difficult task as the wood was very seasoned and like steel to cut. My chisels took a real beating!
I wanted to retain the rustic look of the timber and did minimal filling using a satin marine one pack for the finish. The Birch ply is layered to a solid block, used for it’s audio properties and the turntable is bolted to the plinth in 7 places to esure no movement.
The end result has been well worth the effort, as you can see I have had some help along the way from my twin grandchildren. Lucky they like sanding!
