World Clock

For my dad’s birthday I decided to make him a mantle clock that I’m calling World Clock. My dad has a fireplace mantle which is primarily red oak so, I figured using oak would make it blended in. I also wanted to added some color so I went with African Padauk for the base and purple heart for the columns. Finished with Watco Danish Oil. The clock insert is from Klockit and the dial moves so you can figured out the time anywhere in the world. The face will also fit in with the painting over the mantle which was painted on an old navigation chart of his home port.

I like it, great project and mix of woods. I will have to look into the clock face, that is really cool.
