Made it for my father as his fathers day gift. I used maple and roasted walnut for the sides and birds-eye maple for the cover.

That looks nice. I do especially like the style you did this in, and the maple top.

Roasted Walnut? That sounds interesting. How did you do that?

Need more pictures. Why is it all the great projects have so few pictures, but the less great projects have… oh never mind. Great box.

Cool project but I agree we need more pics.

Is that a drawer on the front?

“roasted walnut” is a new one for me also.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I had never posted anything before so i am very grateful to read them. I will post more pics the first of next week.
From what the guy at the lumberyard told me roasted walnut was walnut that is put into an oven
And cooked. It gives it a much darker color. However I find it very brittle and smells like smoke when
Cut. For the first few cuts I was looking around the shop trying to find what
Was burning. Fine woodworking did an article on it a while back. I think it is also called heat treated lumber
The design started out as “gem of a jewelry box” by woodcraft. I changed the size so it could fit better on a dresser,
And the design to make it look more masculine.

I finally got up more pics of this box. Sorry it took so long. It has been one of those weeks.
