Walnut Pedestal Bowl

Local walnut tree. Turned completely wet. Soaked in conditioner for about 4 days. Only minor cracking appeared after 10 days in the kiln on the 70 – 80 degree shelf.

The pedestal was an afterthought. I had made if for another bowl, but it didnt’ match well. It matches this one perfectly though. I still need to attach it, the poly is still setting up on this one.

I wish they all looked like this. I have about three more blanks from this tree, so I may turn another out tomorrow.

You did a good thing with your walnut! And it turned out super nice!

Thanks guys. The pedestal was intended for another bowl but it didn’t work out. I just left it in my photo studio and put the two together when I was taking pictures. It works out pretty well and it’s different. No one is making these types of bowls, so this kind and the lidded kind are kind of what I like to make.
