European Spruce Man Chair

I made this chair to relax in after a hard day of retirement. I wanted something with with wide arms, a wide seat and high reclining back. The back is hinged to the seat and as you can see from the pictures, has 3 settings. I chose European Spruce because it can be made to look massive without being excessively heavy. My wife was kind enough to have the cushions made as a birthday present. Now all I need is a tray that fits between the arms and I will be a happy camper.

I love the Morris Chair. Someday, I hope to have time to build one for myself…

Nice piece. Looks like you found a solution for figuring out how far back ( degrees) to place the back.

Nice chair.
When I was a child (45 years ago) my parents had a morris chair. In Holland they called it “rookstoel” with means smokechair. I don,t know were this name came from.

Excellent job on that handsome, comfy and inviting chair. It perfectly matches the cushions.
