I built a couple of these a few months ago. It was super easy to build…did my pocket screws without a jig and that was the most difficult part of the build. It would be very easy to throw a couple of these together in an afternoon.

And they look fantastic in the house. The bottom shelf is high enough to vacuum under the there is enough space behind the shelf for my old dog to roost.

The shelves are poplar and the side supports are 1×4 pine. Stained these with an English Chestnut stain and waxed them. (not a fan of poly)...

That is a nice book shelf for sure. I like that it isn’t the same old standard bookshelf. Its nice to do different projects once in a while. Nice Job.

Looks great. What is the angle you used for the top and bottom cuts.

Albe, I’ve got it written down on a scrap in the shop…I’ll have to go dig around and find it. It is a slight angle though. I want to say that I measured in half an inch and up 1 inch…I’ll dig around and get you the actual angle. Sorry to be so vague. Also, I used the same angle on the top as I did on the bottom…

The angles on the ends of the boards is 15 degrees if it is like the ones I made from the Wood Mag article. (Issue #207, Oct. 2011)
