I built several projects for the middle school I taught at before retiring. The trophy case was constructed to match an existing commercial one and I built several podiums for classroom use as well. The podiums have wheels in the base so that they tip back for rolling where needed. The trophy case is oak with mirror backs and tempered glass sliding doors and sidelights.

Great projects!

My principal asked me at one point about podiums.. Do you have plans drawn up?

I’d love to take a gander if you don’t mind.

I’ve searched all my old memory sticks and can find all my plans excepting the lectern one. As I remember I used the damaged ones we were replacing for measurements. I used a sheet of 3/4” oak plywood for the front, sides, and slanted top shelf. They also had a middle shelf with a drawer below that held markers, chalk, remotes, etc. I used 1×3 red oak for trim. I cut a 45 degree notch off each side at the back and through bolted 4” poly caster wheels (hard plastic red ones from Grizzly Tools). This allowed the lecterns to be tilted back and rolled where needed. Wish I could help with this more. Good luck on yours. We want pictures!
