Project Information
This was my very first woodworking project. When I bought my first house I thought the only really good place for the TV in the living room was right where the fireplace was. I asked a friend to help me build an entertainment center to fit over the raised hearth. It was built with big box birch plywood, pocket screws and iron-on edge banding. The finish is stain followed by satin poly. The doors weren't finished until the cabinet had been in use for almost two years. This was built mostly at my friends house and then brought over to mine place when he moved. Along with it came his table saw and router and table. That was the beginning of my love affair with woodworking. This piece has been modified and moved to another room in the house since I remodeled my living room three years ago. I sliced the back of it off to make it shallower as it doesn't have all that deep A/V equipment in it anymore. My Flooring Concept Equipment Tower has taken it's place now and the cutoffs from the modification and the test piece from the initial finish have since become The Bathroom Stool.
