This is a small table for my 8 year old boy’s room is my anti-Ikea statement. We wanted to see if we could spend less than $40 on it, we came pretty close. This is built from solid poplar, machined from rough stock The top is 16” square. As it’s so small, I went with pocket hole joinery, although this project did whet my appetite for more traditional joinery in the future. My boy’s room has a Pirate theme, but we avoid black as a distinguishing color, hence the bright color. The paint is just semi-gloss enamel, next time I paint a small project, I think I’ll try milk paint. This was completed over two saturdays, with several evenings adding coats of paint. Both wife and chid are well pleased, and when they show it off they say “daddy built that” rather than “daddy assembled that”.
