Project Information

Last June i was fortunate enough to have someone advertise that they wanted to have someone cut down there cherry tree, and use it for furniture and things of that nature, so i went to his house and looked it over, it was a fine tree, and we made a deal, he wanted nothing in return and i knew within my heart i would make him a gift from some of the wood and now the time has come, the wood is ready and i have made him a keepsake box, its made from the cherry i got and i added others, walnut, mahogany, spalted oak,and dogwood. I put two coats of danish oil on it and then waxed the top with a coat of Bri wax, ill let it dry bit further before i take it over to him, thank you for taking the time to look and thanks for your comments. grizzman

You're a good man Grizz and I'm sure your wood source will appreciate the gift in return. At least he realized that it was make use of it or send it to the landfill. I have a particular bias to cherry and SYP as do you. I'm proud for what you have done here and look forward to seeing what else you do with the wood.

Well Grizz, if I was going to give away a cherry tree, I'd want to give it to you. You've got a great instinct for what wood should go were in a project.

thank you very much for your kind remarks, this cherry has some wonderful figure to it, and ive got quite a bit of it, i have a real special piece that will be featured in an upcoming project, rich i air dried the cherry, i actually stored it in my shed where it had some very warm temps, so along with the air and the heat from the shed, the wood dried very nicely..
