SO I bought a lathe about a week ago and I gotta say I’m hooked. These are the first couple things I made with it just messing around. A plate, miniature goblet, pen, and rose. Still learning but really dig the lathe. Wish I would have got it sooner.

Nice work for just starting. Don’t want to rain on your parade but if your hooked that much, I hope you bought a bigger lathe cause that sounds the direction your headed. lol A lot of us did it the hard way. Good luck and happy turnings

I have a huge lathe it will hold about a 5 ft piece of stock in length. Easily could turn a baseball bat on it. Got a great deal on it and the tools. Only spent 100 dollars. can’t complain any on it.

Well at least it sounds like your way ahead of the game there. So when bigger becomes better, you can jump right in. And you will. I myself said years ago that I will never own a lathe. Ended up when I decide to get one and try it, got so addicted that I’m glad I use mostly cut down trees instead of buying wood all the time cause I would be broke. Beside its a quiet and soothing enjoyment to me between other woodworking projects.

Congratulations! You’re off to a great start (it sure is an addiction). I’m looking forward to seeing your next projects.

Hey Stephen, checked out that you tube video. Yes it looks to be very easy to do. Finished a project today, so maybe I’ll tinker with the flower deal. After all Mothers Day is just around the corner and my mom would love it. Thanks again.

Just remember get creative with the flowers. Dig into the middle a little more and turning the top more outboard will look a lot better in my opinion. Would give the flower a more blossomed look. Send me some pics when you get them done always like to see different variations on them.

Nice work, keep it up, I’ve done flowers before, my daughter gave them as gifts for a baby shower, all the woman seemed to like them.
