My wife had a rather large matted print in storage for over a year now…finding a frame for it was just a bear.
Her birthday was coming up….
AH! A woodworking project to be had!
Ended up with this project, all cherry. Inlaid with 4 Motawi tiles, 3”x3”. About 30” x 40”
Made a “special sauce” for the finish – clear shellac with reddish brown and golden brown Trans-tint dyes. Finished with Briwax. My first time with shellac and wax – really liked it.
Her birthday was today, and she really liked it!

Excellent frame. I really like the added touch the tiles give it.

Very nice frame, and all that really matters is that your wife liked it.
Good job

You’re right that finish made the piece along with the tile. Nice job.
