Recently, one of my grandsons asked me to make him a gun rack. After seeing a cedar gun rack made bymember 49bill, I knew it was the type I was looking to build. Mine is made of red oak, dimensions are 24”wide, 33”high, and 5 1/2” deep. The back panel is made from 1/4” oak strips, 3” and 4” wide, glued together. Once the frame was done, I rabbeted the back inside edges to install the panel (with glue and small nails). Stain is Golden oak and I rubbed on three coats of gloss poly finish. I’ll be done with the project after I glue the boy’s initials on the oval at top- probably gonna let him do that. ( Sure hope he likes his gun rack).

Very nice! Great work and good job on the finish.
Keep in mind it offers absolutely no security.

You really did a great job on it and I’m sure that your Grandson was pleased.

When I see the level of craftsmanship on this site I realize how much there is to learn . You guys are too nice. I did leave out one thing- I needed to put some felt pieces on the gun rests , but then told my grandson he could do it. He was please d as punch to get to help.
