Finally got around tuit and built a bedframe for my youngest son’s bedroom. I built for a ‘super twin’ (longer) just in case he keeps it til he goes to college in a couple of years. Simple 2x? lumber cut and sanded to 220 grit. I asked about a finish and he said ‘nah, I like it just like that’...

Thanks Joe, I do tend to make things ‘sturdy’... but I know my kids.

Pat is the latest recipient, both of his older brothers, as well as my wife and I have had beds that I cobbled together over the years.

I bet that sucker is “Teen Proof” -:)). Well built, should be an heirloom that can be passed on to other family members in the future.

Bill, Thanks for checking in! Yeah, he even got to help with assembly! (sanding he didn’t want to do though…?)

Here are a couple of photos of one of my older projects:

you want to talk sturdy? the rails on that one are 2×10’s…

Who need “pretty”? That’s probably nicer them most college dorm beds anyway!
When he’s got three cute college girls in his dorm room, at least they wont have to worry about the bed breaking :-)

(Dont let his Mom read this. Moms dont appreciate the humor in thought like this :-)

Joe, you know exactly why I build my furniture sturdily…

kizerpea, just been working my fool head off… I’m currently doing a school bus run starting at 5:30 (commute in, pick up vehicle & monitor, make run….) through about 9am or so, take a break til about 12:30, then do a three hour run and then drive home, unless I did my 2nd job which meant driving until 02:00 the next morning… suffice to say something had to ‘give’... and computer time was on that list.

Does teen proof mean that two teens of different sex can not get into the bed?

Good looking and sturdy bed! That should work on a teen’s capabilities, never underestimate them. Great job!
