This Salt Box is Walnut. The lid is ‘hinged’ to the base with a dowel pin. There are rare earth magnets on the front (top and base) to snap the lid closed.It is finished with many coats of ‘wipe on’ poly, no stain.

Several of these have been made as gifts, with some variation, Poplar top, different carving, etc.. I plan to layer the base on the next one so it has a 1/2 Walnut and 1/2 Poplar base, with a Walnut top.

That’s a beautiful piece! Would love to see the two tone. The walnut sure is nice though. Great job!

You even got the flute on the side to come out pretty well.
Have you tried the square or round ones yet?
