I’ve been working on this table for a while, and it matches the living room suite that I had already built for my buddy Billy. All that’s left is the end table which is up next on the project list. This table is made out of furniture grade (at least according to the lumber yard) maple with tapered maple legs. The legs are joined to the table with a mortise and tenon, the struts are joined to the legs with biscuits, and the struts are joined to the table top with wedged mortise and tenons. I know biscuits are not the best, so the next one of these I build I plan on using a draw bore mortise and tenon. I didn’t really like the look of the wedged mortise and tenons in the top, so I did a diamond inlay with walnut and curly maple to cover it up. Thanks for stopping by and looking!

What a great piece! What did you do to treat the exposed plywood edges?
Can’t wait to see the companion end table!
Nice work!

Thanks, everyone! alsikkan- I filled all the nooks and crannies with wood filler, then 4 coats of paint.

Interesting design. Should help to reduce the usual clutter on these tables.

Awesome table! Like the design especially the floating top and the tapered legs and the inlay too. Impressive!
