This is my first attempt at a pivot lid box. It is maple with rosewood bands. I used some scraps that I had and am pleased with the results. The box is a 2” interior circle with a 2.5” OD. I used a finish nail to make the hinge. Now I am building a 6” version.

Nice work and nice design.

I like the split top. I wonder if cutting the little top piece on a bevel would make kind of a locking top ala dovetail. I have used small rare earth magnets to keep these kind of boxes closed too. You can get them as thin as a toothpick.

I like it. A real showy piece.

Wow! It looks fantastic! The bands make a great accent to the gorgeous maple and the finish is flawless. Impressive!
