Another simple turning project – three dogwood ring bowls. Basic, just shapes, dogwood polishes quite nicely and creates a warm light brown natural color with waxed at high speed.

We’re hoping these catch on as a simple Valentines day type gift item. Our goal is to have an assortment of small items for sale when we attend a furniture or art show.

With all the more complex turnings and projects we get involved in sometimes back to basics is a nice relaxing change of pace.

I have no idea what sub species this is. Some has some interesting grain pattern, most of it is pretty plain. It serves a good purpose for this function. Ring bowls don’t need to be crazy busy or a focal point. They are simplistic and need to almost stay out of sight.
