Velvet mesquite 18” x 21” x 2”.
From log, to mill, bandsaw, router, then belt sander, wire brush, palm sander.
This cutting board had a crevasse or a crack which is very common in most mesquite wood. I put in a ebony inlay and it work okay. I also glued some pegs, inserted in forsntner drilled hole. The top has mineral oil for sealer the rest has polyurethane. Not the prettiest board but its what the customer wanted.

Thanks ya’ll! Mike, kinda hard for me to think of a project and picture it finished without actually seeing the wood involved, so I take my que from the wood first, beautiful and unique are the benefits. I knew I was going to cross cut this 4 limb crotch when I found it, 6 months later a project is born.
The crotch trunk is all but a memory now, but it produced a servant to help provide the human brain with nourishment.( wow…poem)lol

Nice. I get a lot of people ask what I do with pieces like this. I tell them they are so pretty I just like to put a finish on and just look at them.

I finished that piece just about a week before Dolly barreled through. Hmmm. Well, it sold and I’m gonna miss it!

Gee, the grain would mesmerize me while I’m cutting and may cause me to cut myself not paying attention to my chore! You need to add a “caution” sign for this!
