Honey Mesquite 12” x 18” x 2”.

From log, to mill, to bandsaw, then belt sander, router, palm sander, preservative sealer and then beef!

This cutting board had a crevasse or a crack which is very common in most mesquite wood. I put in a ebony inlay and it work okay. I also glued some pegs, inserted in forsntner drilled hole. The whole piece has mineral oil for sealer. Not the prettiest board but i plan on using it allot, wash it down with palmolive after and preserve with mineral oil til next use.

You sure get some big mesquite there in Texas! All we have here is the scrub variety.

Very nice use of your own materials. Looks nice.

God Bless,

You are wrong, it is beautiful. Makes a gorgeous cutting board, and should last for a very long time. Good job.

Nice board!

I live in a house surrounded by Mesquites. Most of them are small but they keep me busy plugging thorn holes in my mower tires :) .

When I was little I used branches to make pen holders on my dad’s metal lathe. My dad saw me work an etch-a-sketch when I was about 12 and figured the metal lathe was just the thing I needed to learn to use. I made a bunch of pen holders for Christmas presents that year.
