I’ve decided to enter the challenge. I teach woodshop at a high school in Nebraska, but I’m learning all the time. This is a challenge for me to get creative and see what I can come up. I like the idea of a free year subscription to Popular Woodworking! My students look at the woodworking magazines I get and we have projects coming from them all the time. As you can see in my third picture, I didn’t check the depth on my pocket-hole jig, so it cost me a little on the looks of my top. I had to remove the screws and use a brad nailer to finish in time. To see all the sorted details, see my blog at:

I think I have my crazy idea…..I’ll do it Glueless with wedge tenons. This will be the most complex thing I’ve ever built, and I may butcher it up, but I’m going to give it a shot!
Maybe I’ll end up saying the heck with it and pocket hole the entire thing together, but I figure if I’m putting my hat in the ring, I’m in it for the good fight.

How nice to hear about a shop class that is still up and running… get some of the kids in the contest, or to collaborate on a class entry. More Lumberjocks in the making!

MsDebbieP,
What I meant by secret was that JonH might want to keep his unique ideas under wraps. This way, someone else won’t be inspired to use his ideas. Like the glueless tenon joints for example.

Glueless… what a great idea. I think I’ll do that too, only instead of wedges, i think I’ll use dowels.
