Project Information

This was created as a wedding gift for two great friends of ours who were married this past weekend on 4/6/2013.

I like to take pieces that the couple includes on their invitation or announcement and create a gift from them. This happened to be on their wedding invitation - they used actual Scrabble tiles and her engagement ring to spell the work "Love" and I took one look at it and knew it would make a great wall hanging.

Each tile in the hanging measures 4×4.125 (a tad taller than wider) and is solid cherry. I used my CNC Router to do the lettering on them. The ring was cut out with my scrollsaw. Overall dimensions, of course, are around 8 inches square.

Finish was a coat of Danish Oil and then a few coats of spray lacquer.

Picture four is a cell phone pic of the couple a few minutes after opening their gift last night. They loved it!

Congrats Amy & Kent - we love you guys!

Cheers!

COOL,

No criticism here, but if you ever do another one, you could make the hole in the band of the ring a picture frame. Just a thought.

Screwge,

That's a great idea!

In this case, I wanted to duplicate the image on the invitation as close as I could, but using the ring as a frame would even make this project nicer!

Thanks!

This is really cool! Scrabble tile art is really popular these days, and you did a great job recreating it.

Nice. I've always wanted to make !a real scrabble game. Too bad I couldn't make them large like this then shrink them
