This was a Christmas gift for a friend. Sliding top. Dadoed joints.

The spalted oak was a great find at the sawmill.

This was a very easy build. The top was book matched.

Nice work, not being a wine person I would suggest a good Russian or Ukrainian Vodka, not the cheap swill, the good stuff! (Laughing)

Kevin, welcome to Lumber Jocks. You have posted a fine collection of projects in a short time. Your furniture has nice lines, and it looks like your shop is coming along. Stopped dados can be tricky, and it looks like yours were very well done on this project.

I would have liked seeing a photo of the box closed. A lead photo of the box featuring the top would have probably attracted more views. We in Lumberland are suckers for beautiful wood and this spalted oak is a spectacular. Careful of spalted woods…many of us are allergic to the fungus in them.

I had fun making a similar box. (Excuse the photography…it was early days.) This is a fun style to build. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Your wood is gorgeous. The box looks great and well crafted. A great gift idea indeed.

Have your say...
