This padauk paperweight started off as a rosary box, but I blew up the inner compartment. I decided to cut my losses and filled it with fine grade sand to weigh it down. This was my first go at inlay.

It’s about 3.5”x 3.5”x 1”

Nice save on the box. Glad it didn’t go to waste! It looks good!

So despite the warnings you put firecrackers in it anyway and then forgot and thought they were cigars, lit one and in shock threw the match in the box….. What did you expct would happen inside? (laughing)

Looks good very ornate papeweight but hey I bet someone buys it…..

i really thought that 1/8” thick wood could handle a handful of firecrackers. Oh well.

It blew up when I was cleaning up the bottom of the drawer on the router. I was placing it onto the router and it slipped and got spun around at 10000+ rpm, flew across the room and shattered. I was very fortunate to not be injured at all and learned a good lesson that day.

Great save. Glad to hear no injuries.

I call a recovery like this a ”Mid process design change”

Keep it up.

I bet that was a moment with the router going full tilt, then the wood flying, ah what fun…. (laughing)
