Mom's Urn

It was actually about a year ago that I constructed this urn for Mom. It was in January 2012 that we learned that only supportive therapy was all that was left. She continued on for what was really a great 15 months and then two weeks ago died due to complications that were rather abrupt in onset. I post this not looking for praise but to encourage my fellow woodworkers, that if they can, to take the opportunity to offer one last bit of yourself to a loved one or close friend with such a project.
The box and crucifix are all from genuine mahogany. The top is a captured panel and the bottom was then glued in place. Urn is roughly 13×15x7. The crucifix is not fixed to the box.
May you all be safe and loved as you head back to the shop.

Wonderful job. It really is a woodworkers honor to make an urn for a loved one, or even a friend. Moms are the toughest IMO. My heart goes out to you & yours.

Impressive. Not sure I could do that.

The love and tears definately show. I would have had a hard time getting through this project. I know your mom is very proud.
