I actually got this idea while looking at my wife’s scrapbooks. I took 1/8” plywood and cut to size, using hinges for the cover. Some of the journals have actual scrapbook posts, and some have leather thongs threaded through and tied. The blue journal and the black w/ red dragons are actually sketchbooks (filled with blank pages), given as christmas gifts to my brother and brother-in-law, respectively. The first journal is actually my workbook (Windwalker Innovations). Most of my ideas start as sketches in this book. The one with butterflies was my prototype (and went to my wife), and the pink one was a christmas gift to my mom. The final one (the one with the cross) was a retirement gift for my supervisor.

Awesome job on these. Really cool.

They are unique and pretty. Like your journals, very creative use on different materials and designs.

Thanks guys. I have some other ideas for the more journal covers, some involving fretworking with a scrollsaw, and then gluing cloroed paper behind to stand out like stained glass.

Have your say...
