16 years ago I was a member for the original crew on the USS Bataan (LHD-5). This is my Plank Owners Certificate which the original crew receives after the ship is commissioned. It took a long time but I have finally made a frame for it so that I can display it in my house. I used simple pegged lap joint because of the ship lap joinery that you can see in the certificate. The wood is some old mahogany that my father in law gave me that cleaned up very nicely. The pegs are walnut i really like t contrast that it gives. The finish is BLO and it is the first time that I wet sanded with the BLO and I am very happy with the results. I hope you all enjoy. GO NAVY!!!

Proof Sailors are good at many things! Nice work from fellow USS Gonzalez (DDG 66) plank owner (1996) EW1 Ret.

You did a very nice job on this frame.
