My wife is a Massage Therapist, and she has a million of these little essential oil bottles. So for Christmas, I decided to put my mind to making her something to organize them.
Made out of Poplar and Mahogany, using the Porter Cable dovetail jig. The lid was made using a Freud raised panel router bit, also out of poplar. Dados were cut after I cut the top piece off for the lid, so that they wouldn’t show through above the lid. The separating pieces aren’t glued in, rather I used lap joints and they all slide in so she can remove any if she wants.
Hinges and latch were both purchased at Rockler. I used a mineral oil to coat the wood and keep with the “holistic” nature of the piece. She really loves the fact that no stain or chemicals went into the finishing of this.
