Step stool for my sister in law

My SIL is expecting and has an extremely tall bed(I think she has it on risers for more storage underneath) so she needed a little extra help getting in and out. So, I used it as an excuse to play around. I didn’t want it to be too boxy so I put slight curves in the panels. I wanted it to be as stable as possible so I splayed the legs 8 degrees. In my tests, it seemed to be rock steady even when trying to tip the stool. Stain conditioned with a homemade mix based on Charles Neil’s, dyed with medium brown water based, Sherwood oil based stain, and then precat lacquer top coat. I have more time in sanding than everything else.

That is great. I really like the curves and angles that you put into it. I have a feeling that this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys. “Stool sample” LOL. I’m wondering if the government opened up some new land for logging. I made this stool from the knotty ends of the clearest construction grade 1×12’s I’ve seen in 22 years as a professional carpenter. I have two 10’ sections in my shop right now that don’t have a knot in them.

That step stool will serve her well and looks real good at the same time. Congratulations.

You know it’s amazing how something as simple as step stool can express such graceful lines. Your stain is something I’m going to try to use in one of my projects sometime it looks great.
