FedEx Bandsaw box, this was a very challenging project, it is a custom order and will be a gift for customers husband she gave me detailed specifics of what she wanted since her husband drove a ground truck she wanted the purple and green logos and so I took it from there after research I found the trucks to be white with purple and green colors so I chose maple for the light wood color, the truck comes with a hidden drawer in the cab.

Since the project was a FedEx truck as I mentioned I chose maple for the main box and walnut for the pulls and the rear bumper, the pictures aren’t showing the colors as they are in real life but the dark Fed is Mixol paint dye only I used it straight out of the bottle in which you aren’t supposed to do as it won’t dry but I over came this by just letting it sit over night then painting over it with shellac to seal it, as with mixing it I would have had to deal with bleeding outside of the borders, I did the Fed in purple, the Ex in green and the ground also in purple, the two main drawers I optioned knob less pulls so as not to hide the logos, they are activated and opened by way of magnets inside of two separate walnut knobs, I sealed the magnets inside of the drawers so they are complete hidden by adding a thin strip across the back before gluing it to the drawer thus hiding the magnets in both drawers. The third to the last picture shows the drawer turned around and how I concealed the magnet inside of the drawer. The last picture shows the starting of the project. Measurements are 12” x 7” x 4 1/2” finished in 3 coats of Shellac and a final coat of paste wax, I chose shellac in order to try and keep the maple in it’s natural color without ambering it to much.

Thanks so much for looking and comments are always enjoyed.

nice job. The magnetic drawer pulls store in one of the other drawers? They could have been the front and rear bumpers?
