Bed with drawer storage

I finished this bed last winter, but thought I would share with the community. Its maple/mahogany combo, and the headboard is removable from the base. There are no screws in the whole bed assembly except to hold the handles that have been added to the drawers since these pictures were taken. Let me know what you think!

This is just the kind of bed I was planning to make when I had the needed tools, but without the drawers.

The wood combination is beautiful.

Great job!

I’m guessing from the slat arrangement that you dont use a box springs? The mattress just sits on the slats?

Nice…. It’s pretty much what the wife wants me to build.

Thanks for all the great comments guys! Joe, you are correct. I do not use a box spring, just a mattress. Also, thanks everyone for making me part of the Daily Top 3! I’ve been checking out projects for the past few days and this is a great community of builders. Glad to be a part of it.

Vjeko, I used these for the headboard attachment, 2 on each side to make sure it was strong and supportive. They’re not visible, which is nice.

Are the slabs loose over the rails? Isn’t it a bit noisy?

This is a nice design, and I especially like the storage underneath. How do you attach the drawer runners and supports so you can disassemble the bed?

My wife has already made some “not so subtle” hints about the design, so I would like to start drawing something up for “approval”... LOL

Great job.
