Here is a sample of one of the many pens I’ve made. I started turning pens one winter when I didn’t want to be outside in the cold and I didn’t have the shop that I do now. This one is made from Hackberry that was harvested here in the ozarks. I’ve enjoyed using local woods when possible. Hackberry has been one of my favorites. Personally, I couldn’t recognize a standing hackberry tree if I had to, but my (ex-forestry service) uncle has graciously provided me with some of it from his stash.

Thanks for looking!

Adam, Welcome aboard. That is a nice looking pen. Funny enough I was just discussing the possiblilty of removing a Hackberry tree yesterday. My comment was if it has to come down I am sure it will make some nice pens and ornaments. Now I know it will.
