Cedar Shadowbox... a promise kept

My wife’s sister had asked me a few weeks back if I would make her a shadowbox to put the items they had used on her premature daughter when she was in the NICU. The child is sort of a miracle… not only showing up a few months early but also she was in cardiac arrest for over an hour just a few days after being born. Well she took all that in stride and though small for her age is now a very spoiled two year old. Well anyhow, I promised to build the shadowbox and then promptly forgot. I went down to the shop to work on some carpenter bee traps and while I was a planing a piece of cedar remembered I had promised to build this thing. Its 16” x 20” x 3 1/2” deep, and is finished with clear spray lacquer. The plexiglass is in dire need of cleaning in finished pic but for better or worse this was a promise kept.

Thanks Marty. Its funny, she cant (or wont) say Buster so my new name is Bubba… I can live with that because it is better than what she calls my wife. The other nieces and nephews have always called my wife Pepper after a dog we had when the oldest was a wee tyke. Well little miss cant (or wont) say pepper so my wife is now PeePee…I am thinking Bubba aint so bad…rofl

Although, cheap, slow and forgetful you did a good thing and made your wife’s sister a happy camper in the process. Nice work Bubba :). Now back to the bee traps!!

Good for you on the build Buster, I hope the SiL enjoys it.

If you look closely enough you can pick out those bib n brace in the plexi reflection, thankfully we can’t see your ugly mug lol.

Keep scratchin.
