This earrings 2×1 inches made of walnut inlaid with silver and garnets. I spent a lot of time to find a way how to mount the garnets in wood. A glue isn`t suitable for such a work because it garbles a refraction of light and a stone looks “killed”. So finally I choose a mounting made of metal ribbon 2 mm width hammered into the wood. I cut some useless details in order that light goes better through the garnets. And I gain my goal.

I wonder if you could you paint the back of the stone with something nice and reflective (silver leaf) and then epoxy them?

I tried this way too but result was not so good. As I said light must go through a faceted stone free and the stone must be surrounded with air for better refraction of light.

I see, so the garnet is visible from both sides?

I can say yes but actually this garnet has more than two sides. The stone has complicated faceting.

Just beautiful Zebrano. Can we see the backs for better appreciation of how you dealt with it?

Beautiful earings. Wondermont at the way they are made. Truly a work of art.
