I made this table for a friend of mine who said ” Hey I have this butcher block top, can ya make a table out of it ” well it is not butcher block, its a made in China IKEA island top made out of soft maple that kept cracking. I had to glue and clamp the darn thing four times before I got the table finished. Then he said it was a medium Egg so I cut the hole for a medium Egg, turns out that his Egg is a large so I had to cut the hole AGAIN. All in all the table turned out ok but it sure was a pain.

Not worried about a potential fire hazard with all that wood surrounding the BBQ?

Hey Doug, no worries because the Big Green Egg is so well insulated that even with the hottest fire in it , you can put your hands all over it and not feel any heat

This is very nice, Ed, and highly practical.

The Big Green Egg does not get hot on the out side, I have one and the out side you can put your hand on when the internal temp is in the upper 300 degree’s. Sparks would be the only danger with a wood top. Beautiful job on the cart.

Those large egg’s are vey heavy. So your cart must be very strong. That egg look good in it.
I don’t know if I have the strength to lift the top on that one! LOL!
I have an old red head Webber that’s about 20 years old and still works well.
I’ll be waiting to see a bell mount Ed :)

Nice work! I made a table for an egg a few years ago but was no where near this nice. I like the rounded ends on the “butchers block” top.
