It is time to retire my old and wore out craftsman tool box they just don’t make them like the use to. I am making a robust unit from wood that will house all my specialty woodworking tools. The carcass is done and I am moving onto making the drawers. I am making it have a flat top so I can add another stack-able unit on the top when time permits. I am really excited about this project. The old craftsman box has slides going out and had very little usable storage in the drawers. The old box was obviously made for a mechanic that uses requires lots of shallow tool storage for sockets and screwdrivers. Woodworkers have such a vast array of sizes and shapes of tools. I am really looking forward to getting some foam and utilizing a couple drawers for my air nailers , staplers , pin nailers.

Nice start, I know what you mean by a Mechanics toolbox verses a woodworkers one. Have had several apprentices over the years come to me with a woodworking one and wondered why the funny looks. (laughing) I keep a spare set of tools and box at home just in case and for home work on a rare occassion but all my woodworking tools are in cabinets with proper depth drawers. Just for a good laugh you could get a Snap On emblem and glue it to your creation…..... Need one? drop me a Pm I will send you one, free even.
