This is a 3” copper over elm pot call I just turned. The copper was sent in an order and was the wrong size. It laid here for months till someone wanted a smaller call. The wenge was a cutoff a friend gave me that was shaped oddly but was just big enough for this call. Not my favorite wood to work but it came out nice. I had to make a sound board since I didn’t have one the right size so I grabbed a piece of elm and made one.

Sanded to 12K grit, clear stain, 6 coats of lacquer. The deer antler is just to prop it up for the shot.

Pardon me for asking, but what is it?

Hi Jim, It is a turkey call. Usually called a pot call from the shape but technically a friction call. When you describe them you start with the body then the playing surface and finally the sound board. This one would be a wenge copper over elm.
