Hi folks,

I haven’t been able to get started on any bigger project as it’s been hard to find time lately, but I made this cutting board for someone who loves to cook.

To give credit where it’s due, this is very inspired, or copied from this past project:

I was looking for ideas as I never made a cutting board before and I wanted to do something nice but simple and organic. Mine didn’t turn out the same, from choice of material (what I had on hand) and final shape, but the idea is there.

It’s made from hickory, mahogany, and a strip of walnut. Finished with Howard’s butcher block conditioner, which seems to work really great. It’s about 12 inches long, cut to final size and shaped on the bandsaw then hand sanded.

Came out really nice. I like the contrasting woods that you selected. She should enjoy using it.

It looks great! Like the beautiful wood combo and the finish really sets it off. Well done!
