My wife wanted a movable kitchen island so I took a couple of old cabinets and built a base for them. I then made a counter top out of oak. I covered the entire thing in bead board and remade the doors and drawer fronts. I also did something similar for a cabinet to hang above the island when it is normally resting up against the wall.
