Okay I just realized I am becoming addicted to making these cell phone chairs. A co-worker saw the cell phone chair on my desk at work and asked if I would make her one. So that night (last night) I sat in my grandpa’s old lazy boy with a few second hand carving tool, a compass and a block of pine wood. My first approach was to have an arch at the top but when I sanded it out, I realized it looked more like a tombstone and I had to make changes. I then remembered that this lady also went to church and out this shape came.
I changed my approach on making this thanks to someone I have recently seen on youtube (cann’t remember who or when I saw them). As normal I measured and drew the lines, then I began to carve instead of chisel to see the difference and try to get the feel of the new tools. After I had the sections of the hinge carved out I used one of the longer pointed “knives” to push through the pine and make the separation. From there on I carried on the way I have with all of the other.
Let me know if you see the shape of a church in this!
Thanks for lookin and readin!
