Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome to LJ. I can’t believe I didn’t know about this place until yesterday. I finished this piece 2 days ago.
Solid Oak
approx. 18”H x 18”W x 12”D
I built this to replace a cheap squeaky metal/cloth bench at the church where I am the music director.

The top is cross laminated 1×8s and 1×6s.

I don’t know if the joints have a name already, but they were the strongest design I could come up with.

I really look forward to using this bench every week through the years.

Finish is a sealcoat of Shellac and 3 coats of satin finish Poly finished off with wax. The finish turned out really well.

Koda, Are those actual dowel joints or plugs over screws ala Maloof? VERY COOL EITHER WAY….......................;-J

J,
Those are dowel joints. I figured with the lipped legs, floor-to-seat glue blocks, and the dowels that those joints don’t have anywhere to go for a while. Thanks for looking!

I love the joints! That is a really great way to attach the legs and have it give a great image!
