I needed something in which to store my sandpaper and this was the result. I originally was going to leave the top three slots on the right open but decided I would like it better with drawers. Probably keyed miter joinery is not ideal for a drawer but I wanted to practice these as I’m making some boxes with this joint. If they don’t hold up, I’ll just rebuild them – no big deal.
Carcase is made of Luan plywood, as are the three top drawers. The bottom drawer was made a while ago to hold my ROS discs, so I just routed a couple of grooves in the sides, added slides to the carcase, and inserted a dowel in the bottom of the drawer as a stop. Partitions are 1/4” hardboard. I only had oak edgebanding, so I stained the project in with oak stain and wiped on about six coats of Min-Wax wipe on poly.

Nicely done, and there is nothing wrong with using different joinery techniques for projects around the shop – especially if it’s for drawers for sand paper- there really isn’t much need for extra strong joinery, and it does give you extra practice time on miter joinery – and looks nice too!
I definitely have one of those on my list as an upcoming project as sandpaper is one of those things that doesnt really organize well with other things…
thanx for sharing.

A very good sandpaper storage facility with accompanying drawers. This is an essential item in the workshop.
What are the dimensions of the carcase?
