Here’s a candle stand I made for my sister’s birthday (of course it is WAY late, like last August late). Anyway… I ordered a couple of the hard wood sample packs when they were on sale at Woodcraft. I was going to use a forstner bit to carve out recesses for 3 glass votive candle holders, but then I found the silver candle bridge lookin thing. The light wood is bird’s eye maple, and the dark wood is either african kingwood or cocobolo..not sure. I finished it by sanding to 400 grit and applying a few coats of teak oil.

Very nice, I better not let my wife see that or she will want one.

Looks like cocobolo to me.

Nice wood combination. I like the floating tea lights also. Thank you for sharing.

Sorry for such a late reply… Things here have been really hectic. In fact that was the last project I have worked on. Anyways…
I attached the legs with biscuits and glue.
The tea light rack cost me…get this…. 99 cents. Found it at the local 99 cent store.
Also, I did figure out what kind of wood the dark wood was. It is African Kingwood. I bought some more (wow..expensive! almost $50 / bd ft) and some more birdseye maple ($15 / bd ft) because several people want me to make one for them too.

One of the nicer candle stands that I’ve seen here . Very nice wood combination also.

-- When did quiet and quite become the same word ? I'm guessing about the same time as your and you're did.

Have your say...
