My latest project was giving a hand at making a frame for producing a Chippendale Mirror for above my dresser. Made from Black Walnut that I ran into a few issues with, the wood I bought was shorts from a local lumber house that produces finished molding and such for homes, the wood had separation in places between the growth rings that you couldn’t see very easily that sometimes spintered when using my router table and table saw, also it had an issue with soft spots that would snap easily. All in all it came out OK for a first try. I’ll make another of another design that I have an aged 90 year old mirror to use with it and move this one into a spare bedroom where I’m going to decorate it entirely with 18th and early 19th centry furnishings. I already have a bed and dressers picked out to make and putting up Shaker Peg Boards around the entire room. I want to create a technology free room where I can go and relax and read a book with little to no noise or distractions.
