Same old sailboat set, but with catamarans for the kings and queens. The Kings were modeled after the new designs being used in the America’s Cup races later this year in San Fransisco. Managed not to break them…not much supports the mast on these pieces. These new cats are faster than the wind and should make for some exciting racing this year, hoping to make it out there in July.

Set made with Maple and Walnut (board and pieces). Pawns are about 3” tall, kings about 6” tall. At the top of each mast I’ve carved a ‘crow’s nest’ depiction that identifies what the piece is, crowns for the kings and queens, a mitred mast for the bishops, for the rooks I made channel markers.

One of the most popular designs in the shop.

Nice work very detailed. How long to get it done with the carvings and all I am curious.

This chess game is absolutely wonderful and after looking at all your projects I have to say that all your works are executive class A without a doubt. Great craftsmanship! Thanks for posting.

Nicely done! Those must have been painstaking to carve?
